Shawn Allen's Music Mixer & Jam
Tuesday Music Jam & Mixer at Dan Electro’s
The legacy
Dan Electro’s has been the Heights’ neighborhood stage since 1988. It all started with guitarist Tery Green’s Tuesday Blues Jam and lives on today through host Shawn Allen, whose easy charisma keeps the night loose, inclusive, and absolutely electric. Every riff still echoes that original spirit of community and creative risk-taking.
For musicians
Show up with an instrument, add your name to the chalkboard, and plug in around 7 PM. Blues, jazz, funk, R&B, and experimental grooves share equal airtime. Veterans swap wisdom, first-timers get genuine encouragement, and surprise guests lift the room higher. Think impromptu master class with a loving crowd. No cover, no ego—just pure collaboration.
For patrons
Not here to play? Perfect. Grab an ice-cold beer or a craft cocktail, slide into a vintage booth, and let Houston’s most eclectic soundtrack wash over you. From smooth Hammond-organ jazz to blistering slide-guitar duels, every set feels like a mini-festival. Between songs the covered patio becomes a living social feed where locals, tourists, and touring pros trade stories under string lights. Tuesday slump cured.
Why it matters
Houston is vast. Finding an authentic room where talent and audience mingle this naturally is rare. At Dan Electro’s the Jam & Mixer is part concert, part neighborhood reunion, part creative incubator. Come to play, come to discover, or just come to raise a glass and feel the city’s heart beat a little louder.
See you Tuesday, Music starts at 7, memories start the moment you walk through the door.

William and the Texas Starlight
William and the Texas Starlight are a hard-driving honky tonk band with a reverence for the Golden Age of country music. William and the Texas Starlight perform country classics by beloved artists such as Buck Owens. Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, and Waylon Jennings. They also throw in original songs influenced by traditional country and Americana, while bringing extraordinary musicianship to every performance!

Natalie Prausser // Marty Bush
Natalie Prauser blends the 60's Laurel Canyon folk scene with the attitude of 70's outlaw country. Whiskey infused lyrics combine loving, leaving, and honky-tonk debauchery. A Kansas native, Natalie began playing in bars at the tender age of fourteen, and was a recipient of an American Songwriters Award in 2015. After stepping away from live shows for a few years, she reemerged in 2021 with a redefined sound and polished craft. Her solo record, 'Til the Sun Comes Up,' was included in bandcamp's 'Best of Country Music' for its November 2022 release.
Marty Bush is firmly rooted in the sounds of troubadour country of the 60's and 70's, Marty Bush crafts heart-wrenching songs of love and loss. Pairing intricate guitar work and a powerful baritone voice, his tales take listeners on a hell-bent journey to the lonesome juke joints of days gone by.
"...a canyon-deep baritone that most country singers would eat their hat to have." - Bandcamp Daily

Brad Boyer Band
Brad Boyer makes boots and fine leather good by day, and sings country music by night. A prolific songwriter, his tunes are well-crafted and heartfelt. He has played shows throughout Houston and he is a welcome addition to the Dan Electro’s line-up.

Voo Doo Rodeo
Voo Doo Rodeo is a country-based cover band with a blend of guitar, electric accordion, bass and drums. The band is a cross between Texas and Louisiana roots where you can go from the cantina in San Antone to the bayous in SW Louisiana and all the ground in between. The members have been making music together since 2004.

Mayeux and Broussard
It’s a rare Houston show from Austin country legends Mayeux & Broussard, with special guest opener Kathryn Legendre. Their single “Stoned and Broke Down” is an anthem for living well, and their whole show will remind you to take a seat and enjoy the ride in life. Eclectic in style, they have played with The Sword at Emo’s in Austin, and have played with country heroes like Ellis Bullard and Vince Neil Emerson. These lifelong friends have a love for playing together and it shows in their high-energy show.
