Vacant Wire is a Houston-area youth rock trio proving that great live music has no age requirement. Featuring Jimmy (14) on guitar, Matthias (17) on bass, and Rhys (9) on drums, the band combines impressive musicianship, natural chemistry, and an energetic live presence that consistently catches audiences by surprise.
Drawing heavily from ’90s alternative, grunge, and classic rock, Vacant Wire brings a fresh generation’s energy to everything from Nirvana and The Offspring to Led Zeppelin, Godsmack, The Stooges and more. What began simply as three young musicians who loved playing together has quickly grown into a working band, earning opportunities to perform at established Houston-area venues and continuing to build momentum with each show.
Despite their ages, Vacant Wire isn’t a music-school showcase or a manufactured youth act. The band was built organically through their own talent, dedication, rehearsals, and shared love of the music. Their performances balance tight musicianship with the loose, unpredictable energy that makes rock and roll fun in the first place.
Vacant Wire takes the stage at Dan Electro’s on Monday, September 7 at 7 PM, bringing a set built for anyone who still believes rock music is best experienced live.

Nice Strong Arm is a product of the creative and welcoming counterculture of Austin, Texas, in the late 1980's. Last summer, professor and rapper Mexstep (of Third Root, Marco Cervantes) teamed up with producer and DJ Príncipe Q (Svani Quintanilla) for their collaborative EP, Tráfico. The Houston Tráfico Showcase gives Mexstep the opportunity to present this project in his hometown of Houston as well as play some of his older material with a live band. The slowed-down sounds of Houston rap and cumbia were major influences on the project, and it is only fitting that Mexstep return to the source with Gracie Chavez of Bombón, Houston's premier DJ collective known for blending chopped-and-screwed hip-hop with Latin-inspired cumbia and tropical sounds. Also joining the bill will be Austin reggae cumbia band Rico-ico.

Virginia's Kendall Street Company are no strangers to having a wild time. The genre-fluid, eclectic rock ensemble has drawn varied comparisons to the dynamic jams of Umphrey's McGee and Widespread Panic, songwriting prowess of John Prine, experimental psychedelia of Pink Floyd, progressive jazz-infused rock of Frank Zappa, and off-color humor of Ween and They Might Be Giants.

Lord Buffalo is heavy in the way that ghosts are heavy… in the way that billowing dust is heavy.
That is to say, the Austin, TX psych-americana band’s music impacts hard, though it seems impossible to touch. Their sound flows through us, it doesn’t invite the Pavlovian response of typical heavy rock music.

Glass Mansions, led by the charismatic, sultry voice of Jayna Doyle, is an alt-poptrio from Austin, TX influenced by indie sleaze, heavy synths and tight, dance-friendly rhythms. Their music is propulsive and elastic, with cinematic pop-melodies, lush electronic beds of sound and intelligent, intimate lyrics.
Live, it’s pure rock n roll – raw, sweaty, passionate – and chances are you’ve probably seen Glass Mansions at some point or another as they’ve criss crossed the country DIY touring, playing places like SXSW, Warped Tour, Canadian MusicWeek, Indie Week Canada and opening for bands like Phantogram, Robert De Long, Young the Giant and Unlikely Candidates.
"The best alt-pop band you've never heard of."
"If you haven’t heard them yet, doyourself a favor and listen. They’re crazy good. Diamonds in the rough, indeed,"says The Vinyl District's Dana Walsh.
In March 2026, they released the lavish and visceral new anthem "Sunsetting,"showcasing the band at their most honest and confident, followed by “SOFTWITNESS” in June 2026, an EP thatfinds the trio of Jayna Doyle, multi-instrumentalist Blake Arambula, and drummer David Edwards exploring self-discovery, rebirth, nostalgia, and the deep healing and strange liberation thatcomes from extreme loss and grief.
That rawness and authentic connection translates from the songs themselvesdirectly to the live experience, something you’ll have towitnessyourself. Catchthem touring across the country this August, and you’ll see why Glass Mansionsis proving their worth.

Don't miss your opportunity to celebrate Ryan Hunter's 26th birthday with special guest Zoe Allan at Dan Electro's on August 7th.

One gig at a time, they’re building something real — and it’s catching on. Live, the band goes full throttle, and so do their crowds. Every performance is designed to pull you away from your phone and drop you straight into the moment.

Hotel Burgundy is a 5-piece indie-garage rock band with post punk, shoegaze, and electronic influences peaking through. The group is honored to call New Orleans home. Countless hours were spent jamming, performing, hanging, and figuring out what it means to rock. The Mighty Orq is so many things. He is bayou blues in a suit and tie. He’s gritty folk storytelling, unfurling from under an open road Stetson. He’s swampy juke joint fun, mischievous and free. He is classical virtuosity, improvised on a cigar box guitar. He is growling rock-and-roll. - Elisabeth C. Parks

CAZAYOUX is a collective music project founded in 2021 in Austin by Forest Cazayoux, an adventurous drummer, producer, and bandleader born and raised in New Roads. Deeply rooted in groove and exploration, the project traces back to Forest’s early connection to rhythm through Mardi Gras, Zydeco, and Cajun music, where drumming served as both celebration and community. That early passion became the foundation for a lifelong musical journey spanning numerous creative projects, with CAZAYOUX emerging as one of its defining expressions.
Blending funk, psychedelic jazz, and Cajun soul traditions, CAZAYOUX centers on rhythm, improvisation, and collective interplay while creating an immersive, deeply connected live experience. Built as a fluid and evolving ensemble, the group features a dynamic core of alto saxophonist Damien Valenzuela and bassist Alex Freeman, alongside key collaborators Fumi Sugawara, Tate Christian, and Aboubacar Sylla, whose contributions have helped shape the project’s rhythmic and sonic identity. The addition of veteran baritone saxophonist Joe Woullard introduced a powerful new dimension to the ensemble, while newest member Patrick Harwell continues to expand the group’s evolving sound.
Driven by forward motion, spontaneity, and connection, CAZAYOUX brings together diverse musical influences into a sound that feels both grounded and expansive.

Depending on who’s talking, Walker Lukens is "one of the best songwriters in Texas” (Free Press Houston), “a non-sexually threatening version of Prince” (Austin Chronicle), and “a rhythmic sound effect master” (All Songs Considered). So does that make him pop? Rock? “Who cares!” says NPR of the Austin-based singer, songwriter, and producer. “Walker Lukens is loyal to only one category: excellence.” Walker is also the co-creator and host of the songwriting-confessional podcast called, coincidentally, Song Confessional, and co-owns Paradise Lunch, a recording studio where he produced his fourth studio record, Accessible Beauty, which is out this summer.

Ask Carol is a Norwegian alternative indie-rock duo known for playing music for cows and out in the wild.

Their music ranges from fierce to gentle, drawing inspiration from bands like the Kills, and the White Stripes, with a distinct Nordic, melancholic twist. They've toured internationally, with an 8 month US Tour in 2024, supported The Brian Jonestown Massacre, played at SXSW, Summerfest, Treefort and many other festivals, and been nominated for the Norwegian Grammy (Spellemann award).
“This is an original song called Wished Away. It is currently being recorded for a 10 song album! This is one of my favorite songs that I've ever written and I hope y'all enoy it as much as I do. This is my performance of it alongside Eric Franklin (drums) and Jesus Cisneros (Bass) at Lisa Gamache's songwriter showcase at the Carousel Lounge.”

Sinkane is a Sudanese-American musician known for blending krautrock, prog rock, electronica, free jazz, funk rock, and Sudanese pop into a sound that feels both expansive and deeply rooted. Signed to City Slang Records, Sinkane recently released his eighth studio album, We Belong, a vibrant, genre-fluid record that pulses with pop immediacy, funk grit, and electronic warmth.
We Belong draws from the raw, punk-tinged energy of 1970s and 80s New York while grounding itself in the steady, soulful rhythms of Gallab’s Sudanese heritage. The album moves across eras and emotions, traveling through themes of healing, connection, and cultural memory. Gallab describes it as his love letter to Black music, with each track channeling a different lineage and moment in time.
From the gospel-soaked uplift of “Everything Is Everything,” to the Quiet Storm-influenced Afro-beat dreaminess of “Rise Above,” the Sly Stone-inspired 70s funk of the title track “We Belong,” and the Stevie Wonder-tinged optimism of “Another Day,” the album tells a larger story about Black music and Black people, past, present, and evolving.

Fronted by husband-and-wife team Kira Annalise and Willie Heath Neal, the pair mix unique vocal stylings, unvarnished storytelling, and a wry sense of humor into a sound that’s equal parts classic country grit and modern Americana soul.
Since hitting the road together in 2018, The Waymores have toured relentlessly across the U.S., U.K., and Europe, sharing stages with Dale Watson, Wayne Hancock, Kelley Willis, Summer Dean, and Scott H. Biram. Their high-energy live shows—equal parts heartbreak, honky-tonk, and banter—have earned them a devoted following on both sides of the Atlantic.
Their third studio album, Greener Pastures (2023), was produced by legendary hitmaker Shel Talmy (The Kinks, The Who, David Bowie) and drew critical acclaim, with singles spending multiple weeks on the Alt-Country Specialty Chart—breaking into the Top 10 alongside names like Tyler Childers, Colter Wall, and Lucinda Williams.
Now, with their fourth album The Knot set for release in February 2026, The Waymores are doubling down on what they do best: songs about love, heartache, and the highway. Recorded in Nashville with rising producer Mose Wilson (Hannah Juanita, Eliza Thorn, Sweet Megg), The Knot promises a mix of wit, grit, and unflinching honesty—anchored by the couple’s lived-in chemistry.
Whether they’re tipping their hats to tradition or twisting it with a modern grin, The Waymores keep one boot in the past and one on the gas. For them, country music isn’t about costumes or trends—it’s about stories worth telling, songs worth singing, and the miles between every honky-tonk along the way.
