Thirsty Thursdays! Aaron Stephens, Matt Kirk and the Güeyfarers album release
Headliner:
Matt Kirk & the Güeyfarers

A Gruene Hall fixture, Kirk’s self-titled record features guest appearances from Kevin “Shinyribs” Russell, the Grooveline Horns, Monte Montgomery, and Josh Baca, each highlighting Kirk’s wide-ranging musical scope. Rooted in blues-rock but infused with bayou funk, South Texas tejano, and Hill Country folk, the Güeyfarers call their sound Texicana, their own spin on Americana. The band recently wrapped a Rocky Mountain tour opening for Ray Wylie Hubbard and captured a live album at Gruene Hall.

Shawn Allen's Music Mixer & Jam
Shawn Allen's Music Mixer & Jam
The legacy
Dan Electro’s has been the Heights’ neighborhood stage since 1988. It all started with guitarist Teri Greene’s Tuesday Blues Jam and lives on today through host Shawn Allen, whose easy charisma keeps the night loose, inclusive, and absolutely electric. Every riff still echoes that original spirit of community and creative risk-taking.
For musicians
Show up with an instrument, add your name to the chalkboard, and plug in around 7:30 PM. Blues, jazz, funk, R&B, and experimental grooves share equal airtime. Veterans swap wisdom, first-timers get genuine encouragement, and surprise guests lift the room higher. Think impromptu master class with a loving crowd. No cover, no ego—just pure collaboration.
For patrons
Not here to play? Perfect. Grab an ice-cold beer or a craft cocktail, slide into a vintage booth, and let Houston’s most eclectic soundtrack wash over you. From smooth jazz to blistering slide-guitar duels, every set feels like a mini-festival. Between songs the covered patio becomes a living social feed where locals, tourists, and pros trade stories under string lights. Tuesday slump cured.
Why it matters
Houston is vast. Finding an authentic room where talent and audience mingle this naturally is rare. At Dan Electro’s the Jam & Mixer is part concert, part neighborhood reunion, part creative incubator. Come to play, come to discover, or just come to raise a glass and feel the city’s heart beat a little louder.
See you Tuesday, Music starts at 7:30, memories start the moment you walk through the door.

Tremoloco
Tremoloco is an eclectic band who have been described as Gulf Coast Roots, Sonoran Gothic Folk and Tex-Mex American Music they call “Cantina Music”.
Tremoloco soundtrack the hidden beauty of desert lands, from the humid edges in the Louisiana / Texas heat, across the colorful expanse of New Mexico mesas, and over the dry, gritty dust of the California intro lands that lead to lush beaches on the coast. Tex-Mex, slowly trudging rhythms baked in the harsh light of the sun, and tough beats hardened by their environment capture the magnificence of the territory.

Thirsty Thursdays! Phillip-Michael Scales
Fifteen seconds into his upcoming album Good to Be Here (out April 25), Phillip-Michael Scales sings, “Toes pointed toward the road / Hard times picking at my bones,” before launching into the anthemic chorus: “I couldn’t walk away if I tried / I’m gonna light up the sky.” The song sets a determined tone for the album, reflecting Scales’ journey as an artist.
In Chicago, Scales honed his craft, playing 308 gigs in 2018 and crediting the city with teaching him how to hustle. This drive carried him to Nashville, where he gained traction on the radio station; Lightning 100, released his debut album Sinner-Songwriter, toured Europe, appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and opened national tours for Keb’ Mo’ and Caravan Palace. Grammy-nominated producer Dan Knobler (Lake Street Dive, Allison Russell, and Bahamas) later joined forces with Scales to produce Good to Be Here.
Without a label or viral hit, Scales has built his career through relentless effort—long drives behind tour busses, self-management, and learning the business firsthand. His music channels the grit of Stax-era soul, cataloging the journey of building a dream brick by brick. Make no mistake there is an undercurrent of fun throughout whether he’s finding love in “Can’t Get Enough” or getting his swagger back in “Be My Own Man.” As Scales puts it: “I wouldn’t say that I’ve ‘arrived,’ but... it’s good to be here.

Frankie and the Witch Fingers + Population II + Committeemen
Headliner:
Los Angeles psych-punk shapeshifters Frankie and the Witch Fingers have spent the last decade mutating their sound into bold, electrifying new forms. Their latest release, Trash Classic (via Greenway Records and The Reverberation Appreciation Society), plunges into a sewer-slick fusion of proto-punk venom, fractured new wave, and industrial grime. Brimming with wiry synths, angular melodies, and grooves that squirm and bite, it's all delivered with a sly, playful wink. Fueled by relentless global touring and a fierce DIY ethos, the band has shared stages with OFF!, Ty Segall, Oh Sees, Cheap Trick, and ZZ Top, cementing their place as one of the most unforgettable live acts around. Frankie and the Witch Fingers continue to morph, dragging listeners into whatever warped direction their experimental journey takes next.
Special Guest:
Population II is a band dedicated to its disengagement, constantly working on refining their imposing, yet unpretentious sound. A trio consisting of singer/drummer Pierre-Luc Gratton, guitarist/keyboardist Tristan Lacombe and bassist Sébastien Provençal, Population II are masters at both improvised madness and sophisticated composition, delivering heavy psychedelic rock infused with feverish funk rhythms, a hint of jazz philosophy, a burst of energy reminiscent of punk's early days, and a love of minor scales that harkens back to the roots of heavy metal.
Special Guest:
Committeemen are hard to categorize. Pulling apart myriad influences at the seams and weaving something new from the scraps, they veer into territory occupied by bands like IDLES and Osees while keeping one foot planted in the early post-punk of Gang of Four and the other kicking tires with Parquet Courts. The band leaves it all on stage every time out, producing bombastic, sweaty, heart-on-their-sleeves performances that churn the humid Houston night air into a froth.
The band writes about what they know: getting pissed off about the Texas Power Grid, grappling with the weight of the world, or just maligning their friends’ shitty advice over a backdrop of thunderous bass, thumping drums, and a dense whirl of effected guitars. They continue to build a steady following around their energetic live performances, sharing the stage with local and touring acts like The Dwarves, Big Bill, 30 Foot Fall, and the Phlegms. ‘(S)HITS’, the follow-up EP to the much-lauded 2023 'EXTENDED PLAY', releases Summer 2025 on Rue Defense.

Special Guest:
Free Radicals
Founded in 2011 in Houston, Texas, The Suffers quickly built a devoted local following before breaking out internationally in 2015 with their extraordinary debut EP, Make Some Room. The release led to high-profile performances on Late Show with David Letterman and NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert series. In 2016, the band followed up with a self-titled full-length album that earned widespread acclaim and star-making appearances at the Newport Folk Festival and on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah. By the time their 2018 sophomore album, Everything Here, arrived, The Suffers had firmly established themselves as critical and festival favorites. NPR praised the project for showcasing "the multidimensional, multicultural possibilities of their take on soul,” while The Guardian called it an "adventurous" collection blending ’70s R&B, disco, jazz, and contemporary gospel. Rolling Stone hailed it as “an inspired vision of roots music.

Milam & Greene Whiskey Presents: The Filthy Heathens at Dan Electros
Headliner:

The Filthy Heathens came together during the chaos of the pandemic, sparked by the chemistry between Bronson Hetzer, Ryan Palcic, and “Captain” Craig Bishop. Things got serious fast with the addition of guitarists Cody Doench and Cavin Kimble. With five members locked in, the band took off.
From Southern grit to alt-edge, classic country to hard rock, their sound defies easy classification. It's rich, raw, and rooted in something deeper than genre. This is music you can’t quite label — and that’s the point. Inspired by legends like Skynyrd and Waylon, with a nod to modern acts like Blackberry Smoke and The Steel Woods, their songs are raw, road-tested, and built to be felt.
Known for high-octane live shows and a growing regional fanbase, The Filthy Heathens are hitting stages across the country with a packed tour schedule and festival season. One gig at a time, they’re building something real — and it’s catching on. Live, The Filthy Heathens go full-throttle — and so do their crowds. They love to put on a show and bring a room to life. Every performance is a shot of energy designed to pull you away from your phone — and everything else going on in the world. Their debut EP Etheridge dropped May 2025, led by the singles “Tupelo Sun” and “Devils Like Me.” The fuse is lit — and they’re just getting started.

VIRGO SEASON B-DAY JAM @ Shawn Allen's Music Mixer & Jam
Pink Skies Album Release Party w/ Midnight Beverage + Howard & The Nosebleeds
Headliner:
Pink Skies
Special Guests:
Midnight Beverage
Howard & The Nosebleeds
Pink Skies is the psychedelic-pop project of LA-based artist and producer Arieh Berl, which began as a series of lo-fi home recordings rooted in his Bay Area upbringing. Over time, the project’s woozy, kaleidoscopic production style quickly captivated listeners, blending influences from Tame Impala, Toro y Moi, Djo, and The Marías into a sound entirely its own. The music is an eclectic fusion of psychedelic rock, indie pop, chillwave, and electronic elements, reflecting Berl’s expansive and ever-evolving musical vision.
Since debuting in 2018 with the EP Does It Really Matter, Pink Skies has built a loyal and growing fanbase. The release of the space-epic concept album SPECTRA propelled the project to new heights, landing on key playlists like New Music Friday, Fresh Finds, Modern Psychedelia, and All New Indie, and amassing over 30 million streams. Pink Skies followed SPECTRA with the classic summer psych-rock vibe of Summer’s For Lovers — a sun-drenched love letter to fleeting romance and endless youth — and the electronic-leaning The Tree That Broke the Cement, which marked a bold sonic departure into textured synths and introspective songwriting, expanding the project’s emotional and stylistic reach.
Pink Skies’ immersive live performances have further fueled their rise, with headline shows at venues like The Moroccan Lounge in Los Angeles and Baby’s All Right in New York City, and tours supporting Cannons, The Knocks, Neil Frances, Goth Babe, Day Wave, Tim Atlas, Boy Pablo, and TV Girl. Outside of Pink Skies, Berl has also built a strong reputation as a producer, earning credits on tracks for 6LACK, Saint JHN, and Khalid, including platinum work on East Atlanta Love Letter.
"Forever" is the first shot fired from Pink Skies’ upcoming album due out September 10th, 2025 — a dream soaked in golden hour and gasoline.Written against the backdrop of a country slipping through its own fingers, Forever captures the innocence of believing in something bigger, even as the ground starts to crack beneath you. It's a love song, a protest song, and a memory all at once — built on dusty guitars, soaring synths, and the fading sunset of the American dream. With its blend of psychedelic indie rock and working-class poetry, Pink Skies invites you into a world that feels nostalgic and broken, but still burning with hope.

Los Skarnales
Headliner:
Los Skarnales
With over 30 years in the Texas music scene, Los Skarnales was started in 1994. The band rose out of the ashes of local punk rock band Desorden with help from original members Felipe Galvan and Jose Rodriguez. Always true to roots music in all forms, Skarnales performs a mixture of ska, reggae, rockabilly, cumbia, and danzones, all with a punk attitude. Never letting down at a live show, the band has performed extensively throughout the United States and Mexico and has shared the stage with such artists as Flaco Jimenez, Ozomatli, Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, the Aggrolites, Maldita Vecindad, the Slackers, the Specials, Fishbone, Agent Orange and many more.
By the mid 2000's, the band had released three full length releases: Vatos Rudos, Suavecito Style, and Pachuco Boogie Sound System and had been featured on numerous compilations and live recordings distributed throughout the U.S. and Mexico, including the song "Demasiado Tarde" in the 1999 movie, "Sexo, Pudor y Lagrimas".
In 2010, Los Skarnales released its Fourth studio album entitled "Dále Shine!" which was recorded in New Orleans. The Album retains the Ska/Reggae feel of previous works, but incorporates more Latin sounds for an energetic mesh that will most definitely keep the bodies moving.
Recently, the band released a new EP entitled "Another Day, Another Borrachera" on Smelvis Records. Once again, the Vatos Rudos from Texas are at it again, mixing global roots music with their Chicano style showing off their Pachuco Boogie sounds.
